About me

I’m Sarah –  a former graduate trainee at the EFL Oxford, current LIS student, unapologetic feminist and radical librarian. I also like libraries, quite a bit.

This blog will mainly be about library related stuff I get up to, or my take on issues relating to the sector. I currently study the MA Librarianship at The University of Sheffield. Most of my work experience is in HE libraries, but I do have FE and some limited Public Library experience also. My interests include information literacy, library advocacy, information ethics and social justice.

If I’m not in a library I’m probably reading, getting enthusiastic about mac and cheese, or engaging in a torrid affair with someone else’s Netflix account.

Find me tweeting over at @SarahArkle

For Radical Librarian stuff, I no longer do admin for RLC Oxford. Please email radicallibsoxford@riseup.net if you wish to get in touch with them.

    1. Hi – I’m starting full time at Sheffield in September! What are your plans? I *think* we might have spoken via email before – I’m the same person who starting hunting down current grad trainees for a national network – you’re at Bradford right?

      1. Hi yep that’s me, nice to speak to you again. How’s FLIP going anyway? Well done in getting that set up it is a great idea. I’m starting in September at Sheffield too except I’m doing it part time. Looking forward to meeting people. Will be good to know some names before I start 🙂

  1. Hi! It’s going well, mostly just working on getting articles and such posted on the blog whilst the stress of everything else consumes, managed to sign for a place to live in Sheffield on Monday though so the big stuff is all sorted. I’m sure we shall still cross paths although I am not sure how many classes FT and PT people share. The Librarianship students ought to have a social before the course kicks off properly at any rate!

  2. I am a little bit jealous of everyone moving to Sheffield. I’m so not going to feel like a real student. But a social before we start should remedy that 🙂 Count me in!
